Dear Candidate

Could you be our next Chief Executive?

Thank you for your interest in the position of Chief Executive at Hertfordshire County Council. This is a very exciting time to be joining the Council as we deliver our Corporate Plan and focus on growth and the delivery of infrastructure across the County. For the past six years, John Wood has undertaken this role and he will be retiring in March 2019 so we are looking for a successor to take forward the aims and ambitions of the Council.

We are seeking a candidate with experience of strategic leadership, who is capable of leading a large and complex political organisation. In common with all public services, we are working hard to respond to the wide range of strategic, operational and financial challenges. Drawing on a strong track record of high performance and ongoing transformation, we are looking at every part of the organisation and our relationships with our partners and key stakeholders to identify and implement innovative approaches to enable us to continue to deliver quality services for all those who live in, work in or visit the County. It will be the Chief Executive’s job to continue this momentum and at the same time give direction to a range of exciting and innovative projects.

In return we offer a competitive salary and excellent pension, together with a challenging and rewarding role that requires the scope and expectation to be innovative and make a significant contribution to the leadership of the County Council and beyond.

For a confidential and informal discussion about this opportunity please contact our advisers, Penny Ransley or Mark Turner at GatenbySanderson on
020 7426 3962.

Yours sincerely

David Williams
Leader of the Council
